Taylor DeBlock heats up in new single "Necesitas"

L.A.’s Taylor Deblock is confident and real smooth in his new single “Necesitas,” which like syrup drips sweet, and is warm enough thanks to its Latin rhythm. The pop-RNB concoction takes control of the listener’s fantasy-inducing brain sectors and demands movement with hooks and choruses that resonate throughout the body. The summer may be gone, but Deblock is not about to let go of the heat. This emergent L.A. artist is blending modern music trends with classic rhythm and blues, seductive, and always creative in his approach. Listen to the new track below for a hot message ready and delivered. - René Cobar

East of June raises hope in new single "Little Bird"

East of June is paying tribute to adventure with a new single titled “Little Bird” that describes the to-be journey of a young girl searching for her voice, her awaiting identity. Tucked in the rich lead vocal melody of Emily Rath is a story of discovery that is relatable. The warm groove from the bass of Incubus founding member Dirk Lance leads the rhythm that helps also tell the story, with Kyle Mortensen providing the acoustics, it is a win. The group shot the music video for the song on Long Canyon Trail in beautiful Simi Valley, adding just the kind of tranquil mood that the song inspires. Such reflections come from the track’s moment of birth (the first week of quarantine), and so loaded with hope, “Little Bird” merges the past and the future and infuses hope and respect for both; stream “Little Bird” for a story familiar. - René Cobar

LANY belongs in new single "Cowboy in LA"

LANY is finding time for recognition of itself and the environment that surrounds the group in a new chill single titled “Cowboy in LA.” The trio deploys slick electric guitar flourishes and key embellishments beside cool vocals that ride a trot of a beat all the way to a good feeling. The imagery the song paints is vivid: sunny days and good times, smoggy afternoons, and neon-tinted evenings, you take the good with the bad. The journey for LANY has been a long one, but it continues with this release and the group’s upcoming album, mama’s boy, out October 2nd. Stream “Cowboy in LA” and let your mind wander off towards a smoky sun above a known cityscape. - René Cobar

Brittany Campbell Unveils BLM-inspired animated music video “Matter”

NYC's soul act and visual artist Brittany Campbell, who was featured on the cover of The Deli's issue #45 back in 2016, when print was still a thing, unveiled this animated video for the song Matter, dedicated to the BLM movement. "I wrote the song when the protests started happening nationally for this resurgence of the Black Live Matter movement" - says Brittany - "I was creating a lot of art, at the time, (both visual and sonic) in tribute to Breonna Taylor, George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery etc…A lot of the visuals used in the video are those very same pieces. The song was brought to life by producer Sam Hoffman (Mereba)."

A Deli Premiere: "A Step Back from the Wrong Direction" by Josh Knowles

Boston’s Josh Knowles gives sound to a time filled with tragedies, abysmal confusion, and above all else, profound hope for a better world. In his new record, A Step Back from the Wrong Direction, Josh uses his skills with an electric violin to craft evocative string music that stimulates the heart and mind with each swell and beautiful cadence. “A Step Back from the Wrong Direction: II” is a prime example of the ambiances the music immerses the listener in, cautious, almost as if stepping stealthily, the song creates a sense of peril that is both grave and familiarly comfortable. “A Step Back from the Wrong Direction: IV” seems more cheery, almost like the calm after a raging storm, back and forth the sounds rise like sea spume so majestic. Overall, Josh Knowles offers New England the kind of music that makes the most sense today: a type of music meant for contemplation, discovery, and healing. We are thrilled to premiere the record for you below; your weekend will be the better for it. - Rene Cobar
